At 6:00 a.m. on February 6, as the final batch of concrete was precisely poured into the closure segment, the central span of the Xiangjiang Super Major Bridge, a controlling project constructed by the Project Management Department of Section 9 of the South-North Extension Line of the Weng'an-Machangping Railway under China Construction Fourth Engineering Division, was successfully closed. This marks the completion of the bridge’s main structure and its formal transition to the construction stage of ancillary bridge facilities, accelerating progress toward the opening of the entire line.
The closure of the Xiangjiang Super Major Bridge represents not only a breakthrough at a major engineering milestone but also a key step in improving the transportation network in central Guizhou province. Upon completion, this “steel giant dragon” will significantly enhance the railway network in Guizhou province, strengthen connections between the Weng'an-Machangping Railway and the existing Sichuan-Guizhou Railway, Shanghai-Kunming Railway and Guizhou-Guangxi Railway and effectively link phosphorous and coal resource-rich areas such as Weng’an, Fuquan and Zunyi. It will form an efficient integrated chain of “mining, transportation and sales,” injecting strong momentum into coordinated economic and social development along the line and promoting the development of the central Guizhou economic zone.
