On February 6, with the final pair of steel rails precisely positioned and locked in place, track laying along the entire Xi'an-Ankang High Speed Railway was completed. The project has now fully entered the stage of line-side construction and preparation for joint testing and commissioning, laying a solid foundation for subsequent opening and operation.
The Xi'an-Ankang High Speed Railway is an important component of both the Baotou-Yinchuan-Haikou Corridor and the Beijing-Kunming Corridor under the national Medium and Long-Term Railway Network Plan’s “Eight North-South and Eight East-West” Corridors. It has a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Upon completion and opening, travel time between Xi’an and Ankang will be reduced from about three hours to within one hour, significantly shortening the spatial and temporal distance between the Guanzhong Plain city cluster and the Qinba mountainous area in southern Shaanxi province and playing an important role in promoting local economic development.
