Hu Suoting, the Head (Director) of the Department of Science, Technology and IT Application (Chief Engineer Office) of the China Academy of Railway Sciences Corporation Limited, is a PhD and researcher who mainly engaged in research on organization and management of scientific and technological innovation as well as railway bridge technology. His achievements include: reveal the mechanical behavior of standard beam type bridges of both high-speed trains and high-speed railway, and propose technical parameter systems such as frequency, stiffness, long-term deformation and displacement of standard beam of high-speed railway; promote the development of design theory of standard beam from "stiffness control" to "strength and stiffness double control” based on the concept of high-speed train load effect control and high-speed railway engineering practice, successfully develop the standard beam with a span of 40m and thus achieve the goals of 25% increase in crossing capacity and 6% reduction in linear meter weight. Such beam has been applied in national high-speed railway engineering. He has undertaken or participated in more than 30 scientific research projects at the national level, provincial and ministerial level and bureau level. He was granted 1 science and technology award of nation level, 3 grand prizes, 7 first prizes, 7 second prizes and 2 third prizes of provincial and ministerial level in the science and technology awards, as well as bureau-level science and technology awards totaling 25. He has obtained 9 invention patents and published 41 academic papers.
